News from Niles
|
Woof to all of you,
Thanks to everyone who's been asking about how I'm feeling. I was pretty sick for a little while and really had mom worried, but now I'm back to my old self. I really didn't like spending the night at the emergency vet hospital. They were nice people, but it wasn't like snuggling up to my mom at night. They think I might have had a reaction to a bug bite, but aren't sure. Mom is calling me her little lunatic right now, because I run around the backyard like nothing was wrong at all. It's good to be a dog.
Can you believe it! I knew it would happen sooner or later, but just when I thought I had the limelight to myself, here he comes . . . Fred has horned in on my parade. He has convinced mom that he should have his own "by-line." I just don't understand it, he has such a "cat-i-tude"! Beware though, sometimes Fred gets cranky . . . .
When I was last at the shop, there were some really pretty fabrics. Beautiful florals, stripes, and tonals. Some contemporary geometrics in cream, red, black and sage. Some howlingly good Halloween, and (I'm so happy 'cause Christmas is coming again) beautiful Christmas fabrics. You know, mom pays me to tell all of you these things; I love those cuddles and kisses. Mom just whispered to me to remind you to read the newsletter carefully. Check out the sales that are coming and some special events. Wonder if Pat wants me to help with her yo-yo demo. Think she's good at "walking the dog?"
I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer, and make room for your quilting.

FRED'S FOOTNOTES
|
(Quilting Advice from a Cat with Attitude)
Niles isn't the only critter on four paws in the Kiser household who has something to say! I've finally convinced Mom Vickie to let me have my very own newsletter advice column to show you how much I've learned after sleeping on hundreds of quilts. Let's see what's in the mailbag today:
Dear Fred,
I've been sewing quilts for a few years now but I'm not always pleased with my work. Should I take more classes? Will the teachers be willing to show me ways to improve my work?
*Signed, Too Shy To Ask
Dear Too Shy,
Taking classes is an excellent way to get the help you need. Instructors are there for the purpose of offering guidance and teaching techniques that will make your project one you can be proud of. Whether you are Polly Perfectionist, Gerta Goodenough, or Clara Clueless, our teachers are trained to offer the best sewing advice to all students. Sometimes that means you will be encouraged to unsew and resew. Resist the urge to hiss or scratch the teachers when they do that! It's their way of showing you they care about you and want you to be a satisfied customer. And, speaking on behalf of my fellow felines, we don't want to sleep on ugly quilts!

Yo - Yo Demo
|
|
No - we don't have Tommy Smothers coming, but, we do have Pat doing a YO-YO demo. If you haven't seen her yo-yo spider, please come by and then mark your calendar for October 25th to drop in between 11:00 and 3:00 to make yo-yos with Pat using the wonderful Clover Yo-Yo makers. We will have yo-yo makers available for you to use and we will be providing the fabrics for you to make a mug mat so you can see how easy yo-yos are to make. The make-it and take-it fee is only $5.00. Don't miss out!
